There is too much trunk flexion going on in the leg extention exercise. I would not give that picture to a patient.

I disagree with the comment "exercise involving hand contact with a support surface does not stress balance responses and should not be considered a balance exercise." In fact, I believe that for a person with poor balance,who cannot stand unsupported, exercises which gradually reduce the amount of UE support ( ex:decreasing UE wt distribution, reducing from two hands to one hand, or from full hand to 2 finger-tips) are very much "balance exercises". In doing these type of exercises you can visibly observe ankle and hip balance strategies as the body attempts to stabilize.
