Tampa, June 8--Every year, APTA promises a highly entertaining Oxford Debate at its annual meeting-and every year, it delivers!
You couldn't possibly get a topic with more heat than 2012's: "To Be or Not To Be? Residency for PT? That is the Question!" Qualified (and lively!) therapists took both the pro and con side of the question on whether residencies should be mandatory for graduating therapists-much like they are for graduating physicians. As in a typical Oxford-style debate, the teams take their panel and offer an argument-rebuttal style presentation, while attendees get to choose which side of the panel they support (this leads to a LOT of moving around, and the PTs and PTAs had some fun ways of doing it!). ADVANCE was there for the whole raucous presentation. Our photo gallery breaks it down. (photos Lisa Lombardo)
