Pilates and recreational running are two of the most popular fitness trends in the country. At the University of California San Francisco Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, physical therapists combine these two areas to help injured runners back on their feet. Pilates exercises can replicate the demands running puts on the body. PTs can use their knowlesdge of running mechanics to develop a training program that uses Pilates equipment and mat exercises to get runners back to proper form. Flip through our gallery for examples of how Pilates rehab can help patients run strong and for more, read "Run Strong" in the January 9 issue of ADVANCE.
