Durham Rehabilitation Institute Receives Top Performer Award

Print ArticleEmail Article
Durham Rehabilitation Institute (DRI), located on the seventh floor of Durham Regional Hospital, has been named a "Top Performer" by the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR).

DRI was recognized as being in the top 10 percent for patient outcomes when compared to 805 other inpatient rehabilitation facilities across the country.

"We are proud that for the third year in a row we are in the top 10 percent of facilities that submit data to UDS," says Sherri Pearce, RN, BSN, MSN, NEA-BC, director of DRI. "Our score this year actually placed us in the 97th percentile. This shows the exceptional level of commitment our staff has to helping our patients improve."

The UDSMR documents the severity of patient disability and the results of medical rehabilitation in a uniform way. Establishing a common language promotes communication about disability across disciplines and provides a basis for comparison of rehabilitation outcomes.
