Education Resources, Inc. Celebrates 25 Years of Continuing Education for Therapy Professionals

Print ArticleEmail Article

Education Resources, Inc. (ERI)  (http://www.educationresourcesinc.com), a leading provider of accredited continuing education for therapy professionals, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a casual luncheon at the Back Bay Hilton, Thursday, June 17, for physical therapists attending the PT2010 Boston conference.

Since 1985, ERI has distinguished itself with clinically relevant, current topic education for lifelong professional development and enhanced patient outcomes. "As physical therapists ourselves, we are committed to providing continuing education that can be immediately applied in the work setting and positively impacts therapists and their patients," said Barbara Goldfarb, cofounder.

"After 25 years, we remain at the leading edge of developments across therapy disciplines, with an expert faculty of practitioners and academics who are leaders in their fields," said Carol Loria, cofounder.

Carol and Barbara met in graduate school, became fast friends, collaborated in research and co-founded the successful Journal Club of Boston. The idea for Education Resources was conceived when both friends were on maternity leave. Initially they did it all; teaching the classes, answering the phones, doing their own bulk mailings, and working from a mobile home office. The office has significantly grown and is now staffed by 11 caring dedicated professionals, working cohesively with more than 70 distinguished international faculty of practitioners and academics who are leaders in the field, and with leading co-host sites across the country.

Carol and Barbara are both active members of APTA, Carol having served as former Chairperson of the Task Force on Student Affairs and as a research documentation reviewer for Pediatric Specialization, receiving the APTA's Dorothy E. Briggs Memorial Scientific Inquiry award. Barbara previously served on the Commission of Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), and was a reviewer for the physical therapy licensure examination.

The company offers more than 300 courses for physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language pathologists. More than 7,500 therapy professionals participated in ERI courses in 2009, a number expected to increase, particularly for high-demand topics like vestibular rehabilitation, medical complexities in acute care, and breakthroughs in pediatric therapy and geriatric care.
