South Carolina Athletic Trainer Releases Book

COLUMBIA, SC -- NATA Hall of Fame athletic trainer and Columbia, SC resident Rod Walters announced Sept. 7 the release of his new book, "Tape, I-C-E and Sound Advice: Life Lessons from a Hall-of-Fame Athletic Trainer."

The book is now available at, Barnes & Noble, and select retailers.

The book, with foreword by former USC head coach Lou Holtz, chronicles Walters' 17 years on the sidelines of the University of South Carolina in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Walters covers patient care, drug testing and even financial provisions of Division 1 student-athletes in the book.

Walters takes readers from the stands to the sidelines and the inside locker room to give a behind-the-scenes look at his experiences in the world of athletic training. "Tape, I-C-E and Sound Advice: Lessons from a Hall-of-Fame Athletic Trainer" notes Walter's career providing "sound advice on athlete rehabilitation, sports medicine and more."

A sought-after public speaker, Walters is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and served on NATA's Board of Directors from 1997-2003. In 2003, he received the NATA's Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award, and was inducted into the NATA Hall of Fame in 2005.
